There is too large a segment of the population that cuts into both major parties that are struggling to understand the truth of the need and importance for transgender healthcare, youth hormone blockers, trans sports participation, and simply the existence of transgender people. From Federal to State level government, the GOP has been pushing out vast amounts of misinformation from organizations with an anti-trans agenda, using pseudo-science reports that muddy the waters of truth and understanding.
If one takes the time to evaluate the rhetoric and “subject matter experts”, research these so called experts and organizations through simple online searches, their anti-trans agendas can be clearly recognized – but people can be inherently lazy. That’s why the tactics of this Federal Administration and GOP congressional representatives is so effective. Inundate constituents with false and debunked “official studies/reports” from organizations like The Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, Liberty Counsel, Family Research Council, American College of Pediatricians, Moms for Liberty, Genspect, Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine, to name a few. Official looking names that surely must be reporting true, accurate, science-based data. No, they are not.
We of the transgender population are fortunate to see that attacks by GOP candidates against us are, in increasing numbers, being repelled and rejected by voters. The tiring onslaught to demonize about 2% of the national population, when so many real issues are being side-stepped and ignored that directly impact the welfare of our families and our day-to-day lives, is being recognized as a diversion from these other critical issues. Some GOP candidates are feeling the sting of focusing on the wrong issue. Right Mace?
